PIRESBURG, Fla. — Ryan Wesley Rouse’s court appearance on Tuesday ended dramatically: After a Florida jury found him guilty of attempted murder for attacking Donald Trump at a golf course last year, Rouse attempted to stab himself in the neck with a pen.
“Daddy, don’t hurt yourself!” ” screamed his daughter Sarah as bailiffs wrestled him to the ground and dragged him from the courtroom.

Moments later, Rouse was brought back for sentencing. This time in handcuffs, his white shirt showed no blood, suggesting the self-harm attempt failed.
As he was led away again, his son Adam cried out, “Dad, we love you.”
As he was led away, Rouse appeared to wink at his children.
The jury took just two and a half hours to find Rouse guilty of assaulting a Secret Service agent—the officer who had pulled him from his hiding place—and convicted him on three federal firearms charges related to the September 15, 2024 incident.
Rouse, who had pleaded not guilty to all charges, faces life imprisonment at sentencing on December 18.
Trump called the verdict “a major moment for American justice!” on Truth Social.
