Legoland is on the verge of taking off, inching closer to introducing a new land and its first all-new roller coaster in 20 years.
Galacticoaster, a Space Mountain-style indoor roller coaster, is slated to open at the Carlsbad theme park in 2026. Merlin Magic Making, Legoland’s parent company, has invested $90 million in its largest investment yet to bring “the most technologically advanced ride ever to Legoland” to its Legoland parks in California and Florida. At Carlsbad, the new coaster is part of the new Galaxy land, whose official name has yet to be announced and is also scheduled to open in 2026.

“We’ve taken inspiration from the LEGO bricks that have been a family favorite for decades and incorporated modern technology to create the most immersive and personalized roller coaster experience yet,” said Flora Liu, senior project manager at Merlin Magic Making, in a statement.
Galaxy Coaster will launch from Legoland’s Spaceport 886. The spaceport is named after the LEGO Space Car prototype set #886, released in 1979. Over 500 workers are currently constructing the nearly 1,500-foot-long track, which will be housed in a 30-foot-tall, 30,000-square-foot building.
“The Galaxy Coaster will allow families to experience a personalized LEGO galactic journey aboard a customizable spaceship, hurtling through cosmic scenes,” the park said in a statement.
The new Galaxy-themed land will also feature two yet-to-be-announced rides and a children’s astronaut training area for younger children.
